August 28, 1903 The Winters joint union high school will open for the ensuing year next Monday, August 31. In the course of study of the commercial department penmanship will be given a prominent place. Mrs. Jane Weaver of Mendocino county is guest of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Pleasants. She was overjoyed to meet there FI M. Conley of Kansas and George Foster of Dixon, two men who crossed the plains in 1856 with her and the Pleasants family. Miss Alice Wilson met with a painful accident Thursday morning. She was making a flash light photograph of Day’s drug store, and the flash bulb was thrown out over her left hand, scalding it severely. Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Spanks and children returned home Friday last after a three weeks visit in Oakland and San Francisco. Wallace Womack has secured a good position in San Francisco, where he can also attend business college. Miss Maud Culton returned home Friday last from an extended visit with friends in Lake county, Mrs. S. C. Cutter of San Francisco was the guest this week of Mr. D.O.Judy. Mrs. Cutter is an aunt of Charles Elliot. Mrs. Judy’s son.]]>
