October 23, 1903 The Christian Congregation tendered Rev. G.T. Meeker and family a farewell reception at the church Tuesday evening. Mr. Meeker expects to take up the work at Hollister the first of November. Mrs. Charles Waughtel went to San Francisco Sunday last to visit her grandmother. The latter is in quite feeble health. J.J. Fischer bought of F. Anderson a fine three year old horse of which he is very proud. Joe Griffin Jr., who has been home from school on account of illness returned Monday to Santa Clara college fully recovered. Miss Amanda Sackett returned home from the city Sunday last and will remain with her parents this winter. W. P. Womack, resident agent, has already received the fine calendar for 1904 issued by the old reliable Pennsylvania fire insurance company. After a protracted illness James Bowman, 78, died at his home in Solano County a mile south of Winters, last Sunday night at 12 o’clock. W. A. Cannedy has returned from Guymas, Mexico, whither he went as U S. deputy marshall to deport some Chinese illegally in this country.]]>
