August 15, 1968 The Chamber of Commerce sponsored picnic welcoming teachers for the coming school year will be held at Jack Fay’s Resort at the Low Water Bridge on August 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. Gail Wingard is chairman of the picnic. A surprise going away party was given for Roy Jones, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton K. Jones, on August 7 at his home. Roy will report for induction into the U. S. Army on August 15. Mr. and Mrs. C. David Baxter have returned home from an auto trip that included a visit with David E. Baxter and family in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Sgt. Robert Carrion graduated from non-commissioned officers training school at Fort Benning, Georgia, on Tuesday of this week. He is in a combat infantry division. Jack Vasey celebrated his 79th birthday anniversary which fell on August 9 with a series of parties and excursions, including a doubleheader baseball game at Candlestick Park. Mr. and Mrs. Don Rominger entertained last week at a surprise wedding anniversary party for his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Al Rominger, who have been married 44 years. Mrs. N. 0. Amrine was honored Saturday with a birthday party at the Winters park with 25 in attendance. Guests at the Stuart Busby home last Saturday, who came to celebrate Mrs. Busby’s birthday, were her mother and sister, Mrs. Doris Bolton and Kathy, from El Cerrito and another sister Kris, from San Francisco.]]>
