August 1, 1968 Andy Danzero, Winters rancher, has been named to the board of directors of the California Freestone Peach Association, as director of District 6. Pfc. Myron Ebberts, who is with the Army’s Green Berets, left Sunday for his base at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, after a leave spent here with relatives, and at Homewood, Lake Tahoe, with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Loren Perkins. Carl Edward Hailey was awarded a bachelor of arts degree in art from Chico State College at a commencement exercise on July 27. Rich Chiles, who signed a professional baseball contract with the Houston Astros six weeks ago, has been transferred from the Covington, Virginia rookie Appalachian League to Oklahoma City in the AA Pacific Coast League. He was batting .454 for Covington. Dr. J.R. Sellers, local dentist, started work yesterday as a dentist at the Deuel Vocational Institution at Tracy. For the present time he will maintain office hours here in the evenings. On the occasion of his 76th birthday anniversary, Mr. Harry Day was guested at a dinner at the Nut Tree Monday night by Mmes. Day, Evelyn Roseberry, John V. Graf and Fred Barker. Joy Thomson entertained 19 members of the senior class of Winters High School at a surprise going away party for Mark Vaughan Tuesday evening at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Thomson, Mark leaves for a tour of duty with the Marine Corps and will be stationed originally in San Diego.]]>
