Dr. and Mrs. James F. Ransdell, of Sacramento, are the new owners of the pioneer ranches of Winters, on Putah Creek above Lake Solano. Sellers are Hanford Bearr Sackett and Dorothy Adams.

Oliver C. Stith, constable of the Winters Judicial District, submitted his resignation to the Yolo County Board of Supervisors this week, as he is moving to Vacaville.

Bill Martin, of Winters, son of Mr, and Mrs. Elwin “Bud” Martin, was named one of Yolo County 4-H AllStars at the annual county 4-H awards program Monday evening in Woodland.

Funeral services were held yesterday morning (July 10 at 11 o’clock in the Pioneer Presbyterian Church here for Tony Martinez, 53, prominent Wolfskill area farmer and businessman, who died in Sutter Hospital, Sacramento, Sunday.

Mrs. Rita V. S. Ehret has been elected president of Sierra Camera Club of Sacramento, and Relfe S. Ehret is incoming secretary.

Peach packing operations began this week at the Tufts Packing Shed west of Winters.

Richard Chiles, playing centerfield for Covington, Virginia, in the Appalachian League, is batting 429, having nine hits in 21 times at bat. Included in the hits are a double, triple and homer, with five runs batted in.
