August 21, 1953 Aladdin Lorenzo, who is in service in the U. S. Navy, in San Diego, is spending a two weeks’ furlough with his mother, Mrs. John Lorenzo. Classes will start at the Buckeye school on Monday, August 31, with Mrs. Martha Sparks instructing. The Yolo County Board of Supervisors voted Monday to urge the U. S. Bureau of Reclamation to build a road around the lake behind Monticello dam, when the dam is built. Mrs. Jean Callison, formerly instructor at the Pleasants Valley School, will this year teach at the Elm Elementary School in Vacaville. The Yolo County Planning Commision Tuesday approved a plot submitted by Mrs. B. F. Watkins for a trailer camp just west of Winters on the Monticello road. Mrs. Joe Diaz, who is leading a drive for the development of the city park, said this week that plans for the park will be ready to present to the council September 1. Mrs. and Mrs. Robert Cadjew and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Ireland enjoyed the week at the Ireland cottage at Sweet Briar. Mr. and Mrs. Al Baker visited mid-week with Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Degener en route to Santa Cruz for a short vacation. Congressman John E. Moss Jr. said this week that he is asking for a new post office building in Winters, at a proposed cost of $215,000. Mrs. and Mrs. Joseph Dwight Griffin hosted their annual beach party on Sunday last, asking a group of some 40 friends to their summer home at Bolinas for the day.]]>
