September 17, 1953 The construction of the Monticello Dam, from a contractor’s standpoint, is comparable to paving a stretch of U.S. Highway 40, two representatives told members of the Winters District Chamber of Commerce Monday evening. Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Marks of the Yolo Housing Project are the parents of an 8 Ib., 9 oz. boy born Monday, September 7, in their car at the ambulance entrance of the Woodland Clinic Hospital. Mrs. Marks and baby, Timothy James, returned home Thursday morning. Stewart Potter, of the U. S. Marine Corps, arrived here on Sunday for a 20day visit with his parents, Rev. and Mrs. S. C. Potter. Chris Ramos, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Campos Ramos left on Monday for the Coast Guard. Mrs. F. A. Coble of Winters, who entered Suffolk sheep in the California State Fair, not only won both champion ram and champion ewe titles, but every blue ribbon offered in the Suffolk sheep open division. Sunday, October 4 has been announced as the date for their wedding by Miss Frances Snow and Staff Sgt. Frank Gardner. In honor of her fifth birthday anniversary Kim Greenwood was entertained at a birthday party Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Adele Degener is assisting today and tomorrow with registration of students at the University of California at Davis. Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Mahoney and children will spend the weekend at their summer cottage at Lake Tahoe. During the absence of Mrs. Caroll Ish, who is on vacation, Mrs. Tom Lewis is substituting as secretary at the Ireland Agency. ]]>
