April 14, 1939 The Solano County Farm Bureau will hold its 1939 picnic at Cody’s Picnic Grounds on May 7. L.M. Ireland, pigeon fancier, and member of the Superior California Racing Club is training his long distance message bearers for a race with Fort Sutter Club birds May 21. The wage scale for farm work was one of the topics discussed at the meeting of growers held Monday night. A poll taken of those present disclosed that 25 cents an hour was definitely the sense of the meeting. City Engineer Holmes reports that he has obtained permission from the State Department of Water Resources to raise the dam one board higher than its present height. Arrangements for celebrating Winters seventh annual Youth Day were brought to practical completion at a meeting of the Youth Day Committee Wednesday night. Speaker at the citizenship hour will be Judge John F. Pullen, of the District Court of Appeals. The stage is set for the Tenth Annual Flower Show tomorrow, April 15, in the high school basement. Mrs. R. Dafoe and daughter, Mrs. Roy Shields, and children of Oakland were Sunday guests at the Mrs. D.O.Judy home. ]]>
