September 23, 1938 Due observance was made of the 91st birthday, Monday September 19 of “Aunt Sallie” McClure, Buckeye pioneer of the Ely family. my “At 7:30 Sunday evening the rural fire truck was called to the M. J. Baker place south of town, where a ranch cabin and contents were razed. Mr. Weeks, new member of the Winters Migratory Labor Camp, was present at the Service Club meeting Monday and said the Resettlement Administration plans to construct a number of permanent homes on the camp property in the near future. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thompson and children returned Sunday evening from a few days vacation spent on the coast. Joe Doll, Buell Ish and J. R. Griffin were called for jury duty yesterday morning. The annual reception tendered faculties, trustees and patrons of the local schools was held last night in the elementary school auditorium, Mrs. A. R. Gale, president of the P. T. A. directed the affair. ]]>
