August 18, 1935 – December 27, 2018

Anita Ramos Eral passed on December 27, 2018 at her Waterford home of treasured view overlooking a creek and her abundant oak trees that provided a sanctuary for family, friends and wild life.

Anita was born to Lorenzo Campos Ramos and to Carmen Gill Ramos at her parents’ Olive Pleasants Valley district ranch on August 18, 1935. She was the only daughter and the fourth child with siblings: James, Arthur, Lawrence and then followed by brother John. Growing up on the family orchards, sparked inspiration for her artistic capacities, deep appreciation of nature and strong work ethic. A graduate of Olive Pleasants Valley School and the Winters High School Class of 1953, Anita excelled academically and as an active student. After graduating from a Sacramento business college, she became part of the UC Davis administration force, and pursued further education at San Jose State University. While there, Anita met her husband at a folk dancing event; they wed, begat daughter Ellyn and created homes and orchards in the Modesto area. While working 20 years for the US Postal system as an administrator, Anita enthusiastically supported her daughter’s interests in horses, ballet and music by providing the resources and the costume creations for performances. Life-long talents included organic gardening, painting, dancing and life long learning. She thrived in continuing her education and volunteered in the VITA program (volunteer income tax preparation for low income and seniors). Among Anita’s passions were time with her family, especially in encouraging learning and scholastic achievement in her grandchildren, protecting her pets and planting over 800 oaks. Her gentle spirit will be greatly missed. Anita is survived by her daughter, Ellyn Dickson; son-in-law, Steve Dickson and three grandchildren: Brendan Ganji, Christopher Dickson and Kaitlyn Dickson. Other family include Aunt Jay (Jessie A.) Gill, niece Linda A May, nephews Edward Ramos and Mathew J. Ramos plus several cousins, great nephews and nieces and many valued friends. In addition to her parents and four brothers, Anita was preceded by nephew L. Dean Ramos. A Celebration of Life was held at Anita’s home in January and on Thursday, March 21st at 11am, an interment will occur at Winters Cemetery, with lunch to follow. Family and friends are welcome; RSVP to attend by contacting Ellyn at 209-493-0084.In lieu of flowers, tributes in Anita’s name to her favorite causes: The Nature Conservancy or your favorite Public Broadcasting System (PBS) station are appreciated.]]>
