Awards for JV basketball Warriors

To wrap up the basketball season, the Winters High School Junior Varsity girls basketball team held an awards ceremony. Xiomara Guzman-Haro received the team Captain Award for her leadership on the court and knowledge of the game. Guzman-Haro finished the season having shot 90 points. Sixty-six of those points were two-pointers, and 15 were from free throws. Sierra Berry was presented with the Coach’s Award, for intensity and effort in practice and in games. Berry’s drive on the court was worth more to the team than points scored. Berry shot 58 points in the season. Thirty-three points from two-pointers and she led the team in number of free throws made with 21. The overall point leader of the team was Gianna Carrion, finishing the season with 163 points. One hundred and forty six of the points were from two-point buckets. Rylie Schroeder was the leading player on three-point buckets, with 10 for 30 points of her 67 point contribution. Shelby Boykin shot for 35 points, Emily Aguiar made 11 point Autumn Mendoza had 10. Ruby Arizaga had 9 points while Lilian Wirth shot for four points. The Warriors’ final record was 5-13, which includes a forfeit win against Wheatland High School. “As a group they improved in their skills and their knowledge of the game, which lays down a good foundation for the next few years, said Coach Tom Crisp. ]]>
