Charley passed away on Jan. 1, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Claudyne (Clyde) Roberts; sisters Carolyn Hill and Janice Draper, sister-in-law Virginia (Gini) Clark and children Becki and Jim, brother-in-law Henry of Oregon; nieces Cara, Chrissy, Darla, Robyn and Katie; nephews Chuck and John; many great nieces and nephews; and best friend Sam Masteller.

He is preceded in death by his father Charles Roberts, mother Geneva Roberts, brother Talmadge Roberts and a baby sister.

Charley spent his life serving Jesus Christ and loving His people. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Winters, where he served in many positions over the years including deacon and usher/greeter. The people he visited and helped along the way is immeasurable. He worked at American Home Foods for many years until its closing, Town & Country Market and for Green Tree Golf Course until its closing.

Charley was a committed San Francisco 49er and Winters Warriors fan. He loved it so when they played well and won.

Charley served in the United States Army for four years and loved his country with all his heart.

He donated blood at every opportunity and was on his way to donate again when he was in the terrible accident that eventually took his life.

Finally, Charley never met a stranger and will be terribly missed by his wife, loved ones, best friend Sam, other friends, his church and community. As the Bible says, “he has been gathered unto his people” Gen. 25:8. Charley lived a victorious life and is now with his God and loved ones.

There will be a memorial and graveside service on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at 11 a.m., at the First Baptist Church of Winters, 512 First St.

Please return to the church for a casual luncheon immediately following the graveside service.

God bless you Charley, until we meet again.
