It’s not our issue at this point. Our issue is to build this parking lot and get it in.” Chris Turkovich, a local business owner who operates Turkovich Wines, called that two week deadline “ambitious” and took exception with the city’s assertion that the garbage issue was not their problem. “This hotel was passed without a parking plan or a trash plan,” Turkovich said. “This city is just as responsible for coming up with a solution for it.” Shortly after Turkovich’s comments, the city council approved taking the parking lot project out to bid without modification to the plans to include the trash compactor. But officials said there was still some wiggle room to update the plan’s blueprints to include the compactor if business leaders agreed to that solution or something else. They have a few more days to decide one way or another.]]>
