By Theresa Ratcliff The Clayground in Winters will be hosting an opening reception for September 2018 Gallery Artists Thelma Weatherford and Theresa Ratcliff on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be live music and refreshments will be served. The reception is free and open to the public. “Mindscapes” is a multi-media abstract style art show presented by Thelma Weatherford and Theresa Ratcliff. Weatherford’s work has evolved over may years. Currently she is working with encaustics and oil with cold wax. In her process she experiments with layering, scraping, and mark-making while allowing the piece to guide her and tell her where it wants to go. Her work is about exploring what you can do by layering, adding, and taking away paint by using various tools. Weatherford draws inspiration from nature and our environment. Ratcliff, a native of Louisiana, is a multi-disciplined artist who moved to California four years ago. She uses a variety of paint and mediums on canvas and paper to create unique, vividly colored abstracts that are energizing to the eye and stimulating to the mind. Ratcliff draws inspiration from her wicked sense of humor and everyday life. “Mindscapes” will be at The Clayground Gallery for the entire month of September and can be seen during regular business hours, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday. The Clayground will also be open from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.
