It was a great day for Winters Wrestling as they traveled to Live Oak on Saturday, Feb. 10, to compete in the Sacramento Valley League Championship Meet.

The Warriors took five boys and four girls to the match with nobody coming home with less than a third place finish.

“We had a great showing,” said coach Andy Gomez.

“Both our boys and girls were impressive.”

The girls team of Vanessa and Valeria Ceja, Eli Moore and Alaina Corliss all took gold going undefeated in their matches.

“They all fought hard,” Gomez said.

“They all wrestled at least two matches. Vanessa dominated her opponents and Alaina, Eli and Valeria really stepped up their game.

“I am excited to see how they do next week at Masters.”

The boys team was impressive as well, placing third overall. Kendrick Borchard, Albert Ramos and Angel Vital all took silver, while Brandon Gomez and Dylan Adams both placed third for the bronze.

“The boys battled,” Gomez stated.

“I am really looking forward to divisions this week because I think they can beat the ones they lost to,” said Gomez.
