Gaye Ellen (Mimi) Lopez, age 78 of Winters, passed away peacefully Wednesday Feb. 13 at Kaiser hospital in Vacaville. She was surrounded by her loving family. Gaye was born Feb. 23, 1940 in Newport, Arkansas. She is one of eight children. Gaye was talented and smart. She was an accomplished pianist and a music aficionado. She loved to sing, read, and travel. She was a strong woman of faith and loved her God and her Church. But her true loves were her children and grandchildren and her husband John of 50 years. Her natural talents led her to her job at Aerojet. They lived in Davis with children Barry and Kari, where their son Nick was born. They eventually moved to Winters in 1980 where her life really began. As her husband John began to work on his family ranch, Gaye was instrumental as a congressional assistant to Vic Fazio. She was very active in her community as a member of the Beta Alpha Beta Sorority and Soroptimist International. Gaye deeply loved and lived for her family. She travelled often to San Diego where she loved to be by the beach and ocean. She is survived by her husband John, her son Barry, daughter Kari, and youngest son Nick and wife Alexis. Siblings and sister in law Rosemarie Hendrixx. Grandchildren, Alyssia, Aven, Nash and numerous nieces and nephews. A service for Gaye will be held on Wednesday Feb. 20 at 10 a.m. at Pioneer Presbyterian Church at 205 Russell Street in Winters. In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations be made to the Pioneer Presbyterian Church in her name.]]>
