Girls soccer will go on to championship

The girls soccer team remains undefeated going into the championship.

The Winters High School girls soccer team played in the second round of NSCIF Division III playoffs on Tuesday, Feb. 19. Currently the Warriors are undefeated. The game was played on the Shirley Rominger Field, giving the Warriors home field advantage.   The Warriors played Pierce High School, whom they have placed twice before in the regular season. The Warriors beat Pierce in another shutout, this time with a score of 7-0. Four of the goals were shot by Elina Perez, giving her another hat trick and her first in the postseason. Three of Perez’s goals were assisted by Amy Pizano, Corinne Mckenna and Karla Reyes. The fourth goal is solely credited to Perez. Two of the other goals were shot by Vickie Banuelos, with assists credited to Stephanie Angel. The seventh goal was made by a player from Pierce knocking the ball into their own goal. The Warriors will move on to the NSCIF Championship game. It will be on Saturday, Feb. 23 against Colusa High School at 12 p.m. on the Shirley Rominger Field. The admission fees will be $8 for adults and $5 for senior citizens and students. ]]>
