Solano Resource Conservation District is partnering with Dixon RCD and a local organic farm to host a workshop on hedgerows on Saturday, April 28, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. This hands-on morning will discuss the many benefits of hedgerows, including providing habitat for wildlife and pollinators, creating a windbreak, growing medicinal and edible plants and sequestering carbon.
Plant selection, nursery sources, soil preparation and long term hedgerow maintenance will be covered. Participants will help install the plants and drip irrigation system on the farm’s hedgerow. These plant species and topics are relevant for a backyard garden as well. Refreshments and informational handouts will be provided.
