Joseph Ray (Reay) Greener

Joseph Reay Greener joined his loving wife in God’s eternal life on Jan. 12, 2018, he was 78 years old.

Joe was born on Dec. 7, 1939 in Modesto. He married the love of his life, Sherry DuBose on April 15, 1961. They lived together in love for 55 years, until her passing on October 15, 2015. Soon after they married Joe joined the Navy and began his long career as a software engineer. He received his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Hayward University in 1972. Joe passed this love on to his children and his grandchildren.

Throughout their adult life, Joe and Sherry lived in numerous cities, states and countries. Joe loved to go camping and hunting with his family. He shared the love of the outdoors with his wife and children. While working as a software engineer, Joe was able to travel to many countries and cities. He and Sherry were able to meet many wonderful friends throughout their worldwide traveling adventures.

Joe is survived by his children, Jackie Monnin (Douglas) of Winters and Joseph Rex Greener II of Phoenix, Arizona, and his son Gregory Greener of Roseville. He was the proud grandfather of Jonathon and Michael Monnin, Regina Greener Karish, Marcella Greener Harless, Gregory Greener Jr. and Chase Greener. He is survived by his five great-grandchildren, Kailee, Mariah, Mikayla, Jadyn and Oslan.

Joe’s memorial services will be held on April 13, at 11 a.m. at the Winters LDS Chapel at 435 Anderson Avenue in Winters. The internment will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon.

Instead of flowers, donate to the Disabled American Veterans organization at, or at a local veteran’s organization of choice.
