Julia Rubio Gonnella went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Feb. 8.  She was born June 16, 1926 to Michael and Julia Rubio in Winters, California. She was united in marriage to August Peter Gonnella on April 29, 1952 in Winters, California.  He preceded her in death Dec. 9, 2010.  They were married 61 years.

Julia, worked seasonal for many years at Mariani Nut Company and was a Mother and Homemaker. Julia, a descendant of Spanish Immigrants loved sharing her family heritage of cooking and baking Spanish dishes.

She had a talent for crocheting and spent a lot of time teaching her children and grandchildren, especially while camping. Julia loved gardening and spent many hours tending to her favorite flowers in her back yard.

Growing up with Grandparents far away in Spain she made sure her home was always open to her Grandkids. Whether it was Christmas Eve, Youth Day’s or the weekly coffee day, her home and kitchen were always open to anyone who wanted to stop by.

Julia is survived by her children; Gloria Evans of Sacramento, Judy Jeffery of Vacaville, Diana Carner of Winters, Augie Gonnella of Rio Vista, Jimmy Gonnella of Santa Rosa, daughter-in-law Nancy Gonnella; son-in-laws Larry Evans, Ashley Jeffery, Richard Carner; Sister Faustina Carrillo of Santa Rosa, Josie Cuberos of Winters and Carmen Soulier of Winters. She had 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by son Ronnie Gonnella of Winters, six brothers and three Sisters.

Julia was loved by all and will be greatly missed for her hospitality and spicy personality.  Services will be private for family.

  3. My last Auntie on my moms side . I have fond memories of summers at her home in Winters. We loved spending weekends there in her nice cool basement free from the summer heat And spending time with all our cousins, She will be missed
