Their week started with a 48-16 loss to Willows but ended with a forfeit win over Orland, a game that was played on Jan. 5. The Winters High School JV girls basketball team played Willows and East Nicolaus last week and lost both games but were notified that the Orland game they initially lost was turned into a forfeit victory because the Trojans inadvertently used a player who was academically ineligible.

On top of the Warriors struggling for a victory they had to deal with the lack of players on the court.

“Out of eleven players we only had two who did not miss a game or a practice this week mostly due to injury or illness,” said coach Tom Crisp.

On the road against Willows on Tuesday, Jan. 16, Maggie McCrary scored 5 points. Autumn Mendoza scored 4 points. Annie Ramos, Rosie Kakutani and Aide Aguilera each scored 2 and Xiomara Guzman scored 1 point.

Winters traveled to East Nicolaus on Thursday, Jan. 18, and came home with a 52-8 loss to the Spartans. Xiomara Guzman led the team with 3 points. McCrary and Faviola Guzman each scored 2 points and Aguilera scored 1 point.
