JV softball team beats East Nicolaus 19-9

It was a big win for the Winters High School JV softball team as they beat the East Nicolaus Spartans in a non-league game last week. On Tuesday, March 27, the Warriors hosted East Nicolaus and after falling behind showed their Warrior spirit with a big comeback victory.

Winters trailed 6-4 going into the fourth inning before their bats exploded scoring six runs in the bottom of the fourth and nine more in the bottom of the fifth to end the game early with a 19-9 victory. The Warriors totaled 12 hits with 15 RBI and had 18 stolen bases.

Elina Perez led the team batting 3 for 3 with five runs scored, two RBI and had seven stolen bases. Desiree Gaona went 2 for 3 with two runs scored and three RBI. Maggie McCrary batted 2 for 3 with four runs scored and had two stolen bases. Madison Duarte batted 2 for 5 with a triple, a run scored, four RBI and had two stolen bases. Amaya Jimenez had an RBI and a stolen base.

Xiomara Guzman-Haro batted 1 for 1 with two runs scored, two RBI and had a stolen base. Emily Hoag went 1 for 3 with a run scored, an RBI and had a stolen base. Madison Wanzie had a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base. Lilyana Driver scored a run. Lillian Worth went 1 for 3 with two runs scored, an RBI and had three stolen bases.
