JV softball team downs East Nicolaus twice

It was a good week for the Winters High School JV softball team as they beat East Nicolaus twice. The Warriors hosted the Spartans on Tuesday, April 17, and pulled off a 13-10 victory. Winters scored 11 of the runs in the second inning and totaled 12 walks on the day.

At the plate, Winters did swing the bat well with Amaya Jimenez leading the way. Jimenez batted 2 for 2 with two runs scored and two RBI. Desiree Gaona batted 2 for 2 with a run scored and an RBI. Lilyana Driver went 1 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI. Lilian Worth, Maggie McCrary, Elina Perez and Rose Kakutani each scored a run. Xiomara Guzman-Haro and Emily Hoag both scored two runs. Ruby Arizaga went 1 for 2 with an RBI and Madison Duarte scored a run and had an RBI.

In game two against the Spartans, the Warriors totaled  21 hits in a 14-6 victory at home. Hoag batted 4 for 5 with three RBI. Kakutani went 3 for 3 with a triple and four RBI. Guzman-Haro went 3 for 4 with three runs scored. Worth batted 3 for 5 with two runs scored and three RBI. Jimenez batted 1 for 3 with a run scored. McCrary batted 2 for 3 with three runs scored and an RBI. Perez batted 2 for 4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI. Duarte batted 1 for 3 with two runs scored, while Gaona batted 2 for 5 with a run scored and an RBI.
