JV Warriors beat Pierce back to back

In their two-game series to start league play, the Winters High School JV baseball team beat Pierce High School in back to back games. The Warriors traveled to Arbuckle on Tuesday, April 17, and came home with a 6-3 victory in their first Sacramento Valley League game.

Joe Mariani took the mound and earned the win for the Warriors striking out eight batters in his outing.

“Joe did a great job on the mound,” said coach Manny Garcia.

At the plate, Jason Drummond led the team batting 2 for 3 with a run scored. Cooper Andres batted 2 for 4 with a triple, a double and two runs scored. Ryan Stone went 2 for 4 with double and a run scored. Mariani batted 1 for 4 with a run scored. Kaiden Pease went 1 for 4 with a run scored. Hunter Godden batted 1 for 3, Tony Garcia batted 1 for 2, while Darian Lopez went 1 for 3 with a double.

The Warriors hosted the Bears in game two on Friday, April 20, and picked up another win with a 10-5 victory. Stone earned the win on the mound striking out nine batters while just giving up just two earned runs.

“Ryan had a great day of pitching as well,” coach Garcia stated.

Stone led the team at the plate as well batting 2 for 4 with three runs scored and an RBI. Mariani scored two runs. Carson Lowrie went 1 for 3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Andres batted 1 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Drummond went 1 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI. Pease went 1 for 4 with two RBI and Lopez had an RBI.
