News Brief: City to install pedestrian crossing beacons on Railroad Avenue

The City of Winters has approved the purchase of two solar flashing beacons for installation along pedestrian crosswalks on Railroad Avenue.

wrote in the staff report. The city council voted last week to approve spending as much as $14,000 for the purchase of the beacons. An invoice reviewed by the Express showed total cost of the beacons would be about $13,360 if purchased from a company called Interstate Sales. The beacon itself would be $11,180 with additional costs going toward signs and sign posts.

Correction: An earlier version of this report that appeared in print and online said the City of Winters had approved the purchase of two pedestrian crosswalk beacons. The City of Winters approved the purchase of two sets of two beacons for a total of four beacons, not two.]]>
