Roots to Wine is a group of small, mostly family-run wineries who are working together to promote wine grape growers and wine producers located in western Yolo County and provide a new experience for wine-tasting ventures. Berryessa Gap Vineyards, Turkovich Family Wines, Capay Valley Vineyards, Matchbook Wine Company, Séka Hills, Great Bear Vineyards, Simas Family Vineyards and Taber Ranch representatives meet up monthly to collaborate on events and upcoming winery happenings. blank Their most recent event was the group’s second annual Twilight Picnic on Saturday, Aug. 4. The wineries worked together to offer wine tastings, food and music to 450 attendees. “We not only plan Twilight Picnic, we often attend other events as a group to promote Western Yolo County producers,” said Corrin Armstrong, Séka Hills marketing manager. Armstrong said other local events the group has attended together have included Woodland’s Dinner on Main and Winters’ Earthquake Festival. The groups’ partnership and dedication to sharing about local wine happenings can be found on the Roots to Wine Facebook page where they share about events, wine releases and other winery happenings from all eight locations. Roots to Wine also represents Western Yolo County as a wine destination by hosting tours that highlight each winery, as well as stops like Park Winters. Thanks to the collaborative cooperation between member wineries, Roots to Wine is showing that small communities like Winters and Capay can offer an enjoyable wine-tasting experience for locals and tourists alike.
