Winters High School Principal Nicole Reyherme reports to the Express this morning that a student posted a threat of a school shooting on Instagram this morning.
Reyherme says school administrators took immediate action and called the Winters Police Department. The student was located and an investigation was begun.
“Through a coordinated investigation with the Winters Police Department, we were able to address the situation and have determined that there is no credible threat,” said Reyherme. “We take these incidents very seriously.”
She noted that school district staff regularly practice lockdown drills to be prepared for emergencies such as this. Parents of Winters High School students were notified of this morning’s event.
