By ELIZABETH EHNAT/Winters Senior Foundation
Are you a Winters Senior (55 years and older) and looking to join other seniors for a little conversation, information, food and fun? You are invited to attend Winters Senior Foundation’s meeting on Thursday, May 3, 2-4 p.m. at the Public Safety Facility community meeting room.
Marlene Bell and her husband Bob travelled to Israel last Fall and brought back a lot of information and pictures of their trip. They visited Nazareth, Akko, The Bahia Gardens, Jerusalem, Jaffa, Magdala, Masada, Ein Gedi, and several other beautiful places that most of us will never be able to see in person. This is our chance to hear Marlene tell us about an Israel that we don’t see in the news.
At the meeting, we will be giving an update on our ride program for medical appointments as well as a proposal by the City of Winters for a regular shopping trip to Vacaville Wal-Mart on the city bus. Drivers are needed for the programs as well as dispatchers, which may be perfect for seniors who would like to be more active in our community. Bus drivers need a class B driver’s license.
We’re also planning a trip to the Rivers Cats game on Monday May 21, 7:05 p.m. game; rides are available. The cost is around $28 however, “scholarships” may be available. Call Karen May for reservations or more information about the game, 530-794-6108
We also reserve a little time for seniors to share a little story from the past or present… we call this “Senior Moments” and invite those present to participate if they’d like. We hope to see you there.
