Soccer ties two while traveling

The Winters High School boys Soccer team traveled to two game this week. Both were Sacramento Valley League games. The Warriors first played Pierce High School on Tuesday, Jan. 8, and then Williams High School on Wednesday, Jan. 9. The Warriors traveled to Pierce High School in Arbuckle on Tuesday. At Pierce the Warriors that made the scoring plays were Jahir Manzo, assisted by Jesus Sanchez and Grayson Roberts, assisted by Jahir Manzo. The game ended in a tie with a score of 2-2. The Warriors then traveled to Williams High School for another Sacramento Valley League game. While at Williams Anthony Jimenez scored the only point for the game, while assisted by Julian Solorio. The game ended in a tie with a score of 1-1. “Anthony played a great game on defense using his speed to stay with (and) shut down their fast player,” said Coach Marco Arredondo. “Jimenez moved up to forward late in the second half and scored to tie the game.” Arredondo also said, “Jose Escobedo had a great game at goalkeeper. He had countless saves including saving a penalty kick in the second half.” There will be two games this week. The first will be a home game were the warriors will host Live Oak High School in a Sacramento league game, on Monday, Jan. 14. On Wednesday the Warriors will host Esparto High School, also in a Sacramento Valley League game. ]]>
