By Angela Borchert Special to the Express Sutter Davis Hospital’s award-winning volunteer doula program will host a free informational meet and greet session with the volunteer doulas on Thursday, Aug. 23 fro, 7-8 p.m. at the Sutter Davis Hospital cafeteria (2000 Sutter Pl., Davis). Attendees will learn how continuous, hands-on labor support can help laboring mothers gain confidence in their ability to give birth. A birth doula is an individual trained to offer physical comfort and emotional support, and guides women and their partners continuously through their labor and birth. Sutter Davis Hospital’s Birthing Center has a trained staff of volunteer doulas ready to provide mothers-to-be with continuous labor support and help them have the best possible memory of their birth.
