Tony “Antonio” Martinez, an immigrant from Spain, passed away in his home surrounded by family and friends on May 23rd.

Tony was born June 18th 1933 in Lubrin, Spain and came to the United States in 1947. He helped is father and mother Chris and Isabel Martinez on their apricot and almond orchard located in Winters. In 1953, he joined the U.S. Army where he completed his education, became a citizen of the United States and was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal. After Army service, he worked for Diamond Lumber Company, until 1970 when he purchased an almond orchard, just east of Winters where he lived until his passing.

Tony will be missed by many life long friends and family. His is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Frances Martinez, Son Joe Martinez and daughter Rosemary Martinez brothers Emilio and Joe. Services will be held Tues. June 5 at 11 a.m. at the Catholic church in Winters, and a viewing will be held the night before from 5-7 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Winters.
