It’s not exactly how it was supposed to happen but nonetheless, the Winters High School varsity baseball team is in the second round of the Northern Section Division IV playoffs. The Warriors were scheduled to play Trinity last week but the game was canceled, automatically advancing the Warriors to the second round.

On Tuesday, May 15, Winters will host University Prep with the winner moving onto the section championship game played at Butte College on Saturday, May 19. University Prep is one of two teams that held the Warriors to scoring just two runs this season. Winters beat the Panthers on March 10, in a tournament by a score of 2-1.

The winner of this game will face the winner of Colusa and Mt. Shasta’s game this Saturday for the title. The Warriors are seeking their fourth straight section championship and are the number one ranked team in the northern section. Their 8-0 league record and their 28-1 overall record is something to brag about but it won’t be the same without that section championship.
