They played just one game and they made the most of it as the WHS varsity boys basketball team hosted Live Oak on Friday, Feb. 9, and pulled off a 66-48 victory over the Lions.
With the win, the Warriors moved into third place in the Sacramento Valley League with the chance of moving into the number two spot this week with their final two games.
The Warriors actually trailed 31-23 at the half but made the right adjustments during the break. Winters out scored Live Oak 16-11 in the third and then poured it on in the fourth outscoring the Lions 27-6 in the fourth.
Daniel Carrion led all scorers with 20 points, grabbed three rebounds, had eight steals and one assist. Kyle Thomas scored a double-double with 14 points, 11 rebounds with an assist and a steal. Tyler Berry scored 10 points, had three rebounds, two blocks, a steal and one assist.
Ruben Valencia scored 8 points, had three rebounds, four assists and two steals. Sammy Gonzales scored 8 points, had six rebounds, an assist and four steals. Alec Matheson scored 4 points, had four rebounds, four blocks and a steal. Thomas Kakutani scored 2 points, had two rebounds, two assists and a steal.
