Improving their perfect record to 8-0, the Winters High School varsity baseball team hosted Berean Christian on Saturday, March 17, in a non-league game and pulled off a 5-1 victory over the Eagles.
The Eagles scored first in the top of the third inning but the Warriors didn’t wait too long to respond.
The Warriors scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth and three more in the bottom of the sixth to clinch their eighth straight victory.
The Warriors will travel to Christian Brothers on Monday, March 19.
The team will return home to host Sutter on Wednesday, March 21.
Until the top of the fifth inning, the Winters High School JV baseball team trailed the Woodland Christian Cardinals 2-0 in a non-league game on Saturday, March 17. But the bottom of the inning is when the home team started converting hits into runs.
The Warriors scored four runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth for a 6-2 victory over the Cardinals. Carson Lowrie then closed out the visiting team on the mound totaling four strikeouts.
“It was a great comeback,” said coach Manny Garcia. “Carson did a very good job of pitching to close the game.”
At the plate, Ryan Stone batted 3 for 4 with a double and three RBI.
Andrew Del Rio batted 2 for 4 with two runs scored. Lowrie went 2 for 4 with two doubles and a run scored. Cooper Andres batted 1 for 4 with a double, a run scored and two RBI, while Hunter Godden batted 2 for 3 with a run scored.
