Warriors’ season ends with losses to Willows

Hoping to improve their league record to 6-2 and step into the playoffs, the Winters High School varsity softball team took on Willows in their last two regular season games last week. The Warriors traveled to Willows on Tuesday, May 1, for their first of two games and came home with a 12-0 loss to the Honkers.

Winters totaled just four hits in the game, with two of them coming from Payton Paschoal. Paschoal batted 2 for 4 with a triple. Alexia Larsen batted 1 for 2 and AliAnn Iten went 1 for 3. On the mound for Winters, Alexis Garcia had seven strikeouts.

In game two, the Warriors hosted the Honkers on Thursday, May 3, and lost 13-0. This time, Garcia split time on the mound with Iten. Garcia had four strikeouts and Iten had two. At the plate, Winters had just three hits with Christi Woods, Paschaol and Eli Moore all batting 1 for 2 in their final high school softball game.

The Warriors ended their season with an overall record of 9-15 and were 4-4 in the Sacramento Valley League with a third place finish.
