Winters Express earns nine CNPA California Journalism Award nominations

The Winters Express has been nominated for nine California Journalism Awards for stories and other works published in 2018.

  • “We’re competing against the big dogs in categories like breaking news, investigative reporting and opinion editorials,” Buley said in a statement. “We’ve been recognized as having one of the best [website] home pages in California, and we’re one of five organizations our size up for the highest digital honor in California journalism.” The Winters Express is owned by McNaughton Newspapers, which has a collective 16 nominations spread across three newsrooms this year. In an email to staff on Thursday, McNaughton Chief Executive Foy McNaughton said the Express “shines as an example of excellent journalism.” Finalists will learn whether they’ve received a first, second or third place award on May 4 at the California Journalism Awards gala in Long Beach.]]>
