Winters Police encourage residents to sign up for Everbridge emergency alerts

The Winters Police Department is urging residents to sign up for emergency alerts and other notifications through Everbridge.

started using Everbridge to send out emergency notifications by phone call, text message and email. The service is also active in other cities throughout the county, including Woodland, Davis, West Sacramento and Dunnigan and is a part of a joint network that also serves communities in Sacramento and Placer counties. In January, emergency officials tested the notification system in all three counties simultaneous. The test is likely to be an annual occurrence, according to a press release.
