“Sari, Not Sorry,” an original one-woman show written and performed by Anita Ahuja, director, actor and board member for the Winters Theatre Company, will premiere Jan. 20-28 at the Nugget Theatre Fringe Festival in Grass Valley.
This humorous and poignant story of Ahuja’s life growing up as a first generation East Indian female in the USA focuses on the many cultural norms she defied and the unexpected life path she chose to pursue.
“My goal in performing this show is to share my life story and also to help others, especially women in similar situations, to appreciate the wisdom and humor of their experiences,” said Ahuja. “I am grateful to have the graceful direction and coaching of James Wheatley, executive director of Celebration Arts Theatre in Sacramento.”
The 4th Annual Nugget Theatre Fringe Festival in Grass Valley includes 40 bleeding-edge shows and 120 performances, all within walking distance of downtown Grass Valley.
