By Debbie Patterson UCCE Yolo County Master Gardeners The UCCE Yolo County Master Gardeners are offering the following gardening related events this September. 1. Culinary Herbs, Tuesday, Sept. 11 Come to a free workshop at the West Sacramento Community Center on Tuesday, Sept. 11 from 10:30 a.m. to noon, and learn from UCCE Master Gardener Erin McDermand how to grow a herb garden in a small space. The location is 1075 West Capitol Ave., West Sacramento. For more information contact UC Yolo County Master Gardeners at 530-666-8737. 2. Gardening Forum, Sunday, Sept. 16 Stop by the Mary L. Stephens Davis Library, Children’s Area Conference Room, on Sept. 16 for a free question and answer session from 2-4 p.m. with the UCCE Master Gardeners of Yolo County. Bring your gardening questions. There will be a discussion on planting your fall garden. The library is located at 315 E. 14th Street, Davis. Lawn Conversion Workshop, Saturday, Sept. 15 On Sept. 15 join us at the Woodland Community College located at 2300 E. Gibson Road, Woodland. A free presentation from 9-10 a.m. in Building 400 will be given by UCCE Yolo County Master Gardener Sandra Schickele to explain what to consider when removing lawn, various methods to complete the lawn removal, and how to implement low-water plants in your new landscape. Planting A Fall Garden, Saturday, Sept. 22 Visit the Davis Central Park Gardens on Sept. 22 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. for information and demonstrations by UCCE Yolo County Master Gardeners on creating a successful winter vegetable garden. Year-Round Kitchen Gardening, Sunday, Sept. 23 Sunday, Sept. 23 from 2-4 p.m. at the Mary L. Stephens Library, Children’s Area Conference Room, UCCE Master Gardeners of Yolo County will present information covering a variety of topics. The areas of discussion include: edible flowers and herbs of the fall garden; planting a winter garden from seed; and planting garlic and onions and cover plants, such as fava beans.
