Yolo Prostate Support Group will be meeting on Monday, Jan. 14, from 7-8 p.m. at the Woodland Community and Senior Center, located at 2001 East St. in Woodland.
Yolo Prostate Support Group meeting in January
Board-certified genetic counselor Maude Blundell, who specializes in cancer genetics, will discuss germline genetic testing. Genetic testing is important because some prostate cancers have a hereditary component, explains Blundell, who is affiliated with Sutter Cancer Center in Sacramento and Sutter Solano Cancer Center in Vallejo.
The Yolo Prostate Cancer Support Group invites men, as well as their spouses and family members, to meet with prostate cancer survivors to learn about treatment options, and their experiences with recovery and side effects. The support group, established in 2006, is composed of volunteers; attendance and informative handout materials, as available, are free of charge.
