Winters Out Loud Open Mic invites the community to celebrate poetry every second Thursday beginning Aug. 10, 7-8:30 p.m., at the Berryessa Gap tasting room, 15 Main Street. There is no charge to participate or attend.

Everyone is invited to read or recite original poetry or poetry of favorite poets.

“Join Winters Out Loud to express yourself, to get to know local poets, or just to listen,” says program host Deborah Shaw Hickerson. “There will be lively recitations and readings of classic and modern poetry, as well as beautiful translations from Spanish into English, which have been crowd-pleasers. ”

Presenters, from 8 to 88 and every age in between, will have five to ten minutes each to share.

“Bring in a favorite collection that’s been gathering dust on your bookshelf,” says Shaw Hickerson. “Poetry wants to be heard.”
