The family of Matthew Sommerfeldt is announcing the opening of the “Matthew Sommerfeldt Medical & Rehab” account at First Northern Bank. The account was set up to accept donations to assist the family with medical expenses, construction of a wheelchair ramp, front yard fencing, and other needs related to Sommerfeldt’s recovery.

Sommerfeldt was recently involved in a horrific motorcycle accident outside Winters while on his way home from work. He suffered injuries including a broken neck, leg and shoulder. He will be confined to a wheelchair for at least six months until his shoulder is strong enough to handle crutches.

“Our family has been humbled by the outpouring of support that we have received from the community,” said his wife Jessica. “It’s nice to see all these people love us as much as we love them.”

Donations can be made to Sommerfeldt’s family by visiting any First Northern Bank location and referencing the above account name.
