On Wednesday, Sept. 19, from 2 to 4 p.m., Germaine Hupe will entertain and educate about the origins of names in the area. As usual, we will meet at the Police/Fire training room, 700 Main St. The Winters Senior Foundation will host a fundraising event at the Buckhorn Steakhouse and Saloon on Thursday, Sept. 20. In addition to a dinner, there will be door prizes distributed to a few winners. The Buckhorn has graciously offered to donate a percentage of the evening’s proceeds to the Winters Senior Foundation, to support ongoing programs. This event is designed to support the programs that serve the seniors of Winters. The Winters Senior Foundation Wednesday, Oct. 17, general meeting will be an adventuresome, field trip to Lester Farms to witness the 2018 walnut harvest and processing. This event will include a free box lunch. If you would like to join us, please secure your reservation by contacting Marianne Boyer 530-721-0623. Leave a message and Marianne will call back. With a reservation, guests will be able to select your lunch from the special menu available for participants. Details will be forthcoming regarding the meeting place and transportation to the Lester’s. Flu Season is coming. The Yolo County Health and Human Services Agency will be giving free shots to those who wish to receive them. Shots will be given on Monday, Oct. 1, from 11-4 p.m. No appointment is required.
