Festival of the Trees – Nov. 29 Winters Seniors will attend the Vacaville Festival of Trees on Thursday, Nov. 29. The free event is held at the Vacaville Recreation Center/Ice Skating Rink off Davis Street near the Brenden Movie Complex. This is a fundraiser for the Opportunity House in Vacaville. All 100 decorated trees of varying sizes, are for sale by silent bidding beginning Nov. 27 to 29, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Vacaville Recreation Center 551 Davis St., in Vacaville. If your bid is a winner, your tree will be delivered to you, on Friday, Nov. 30. Besides seeing all the lovely and fun trees, there will be booths with crafts items, baked goods, music and maybe, if you are good, Santa will make an appearance. The plan is Ed Scianna will drive the Winters City bus to the event. Reserved on a first come first seated basis, there’s room for 16 seniors who request a seat by calling Tina Lowden at 530-794-6067. Meet in St. Anthony Parish parking lot at the solar panels at 12:45 p.m. The bus will leave St Anthony’s at 1 p.m. The bus will reload at 3:15 p.m. in the Vacaville Recreation Center parking lot and arrive back at the parish hall at 4 p.m. If you would like to drive and have room in your car, please let Tina know so that she can coordinate rides. WSF Holiday Dinner – Dec 3 The Winters Senior Foundation will celebrate the Season at its annual Christmas Dinner on Dec. 3 at Tomat’s California Cuisine, 1123 Grant Avenue, Winters. We’ll gather at 5:15 p.m. with a no host bar followed by dinner at 6:15 p.m. Come join us for a sumptuous menu of roasted pork loin, buttermilk fried chicken, penne pasta with marinara sauce, garden green salad, homemade potato salad, rolls and homemade desserts. A vegan entrée is available upon request at the time of your reservation. The last day to reserve your spot is Nov. 25. Contact Karen May at 530-794-6108 as seating is limited. The price per person is $22, which includes the tip. WSF December Meeting – Dec 18 At its Dec. 18 meeting members of the Winters Senior Foundation will gather to assemble Christmas gift bags to be delivered to seniors in Winters. Members of the business and resident communities are invited to generously contribute their donations to this effort. Anyone wishing to help assemble the gift bags and deliver them is more than welcome to join on Dec. 18 at 1:30 p.m. WSF asks that donations be received by Dec. 14 and can be dropped off at 1102 Malaga Lane, Winters. Monetary donations can be sent to: Winters Senior Foundation, PO Box 392, Winters, CA 95694. Suggested donation items include 36 of each: paper plates, paper towels, Kleenex, dish towels, Christmas kitchen towels, Christmas kitchen mitts, wash cloths, bath towels, kitchen, dish detergent, laundry detergent, disinfecting wipes, bathroom spray, Comet (cleanser), Mr. Clean, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, toothpaste and mouthwash.
