Winters Music Boosters, dedicated to providing opportunities for students in Winters public schools to pursue music, is encouraging community members to contribute to the local, nonprofit organization on GivingTuesday.

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. GivingTuesday will kick off the generosity season this year by inspiring people to give back on Nov. 30 and throughout the year.

Winters Music Boosters is asking the community to give back for the sake of music this year. This organization provides financial support and volunteer assistance to help maintain the music programs in Winters public schools. WMB is dedicated to fundraising to support a robust TK-12 music program at Winters Joint Unified School District.

The organization believes that all students deserve equitable access to a quality music program. WMB provides financial assistance for repair and purchase of instruments, transportation costs and entry fees to various parades, and much more. From egg shakers for the very youngest musicians at Waggoner Elementary School to scholarships for graduating seniors, WMB supports music education for all school age children.

In her WMB Scholarship application, Winters High School graduate Katie Pelletier (‘21), who sang in the school choir for four years, wrote, “Being involved in music has always given me a sense of belonging and direction. I hold the same amount of love for music as I do for my friends and family. Without it, I am not complete. Music is one of the most important things in my life. I would not be who I am today without music and without the lessons and experiences I’ve gained through taking music classes.”

Like Pelletier and the dedicated group of volunteers who keep WMB going, there are many people in this community who find music to be an integral part of life. On Tuesday, Nov. 30 people can help support the magic of music in the lives of students in the WJUSD. Visit musicboosterswinters.org and donate there with PayPal or mail a donation to P.O. Box 593, Winters, CA 95694.

Donations are tax-deductible and WMB can provide donors with a tax-deductible letter. For more information about how to support or volunteer with this group, email musicboosterswinters@gmail.com.
