Winters high School band paying tribute to veterans Wednesday, Nov. 6

Yolo Community Band will join forces with the Winters High School Concert Band to pay tribute to the service of our veterans with a concert on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. in the Winters High School gymnasium.  Community members, families and especially veterans are invited to enjoy the music and honor service members for their role in protecting the nation’s freedom and security. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and admission is free.  The concert will feature “Amazing Grace” and “Armed Forces Salute” performed by a combined band composed of high school musicians and Yolo Community Band members. Yolo Community Band will complete the evening with a selection of marches, patriotic tributes and WWII-era popular hits.  The Winters High School Concert Band is directed by Rebecca Ciardelli and is currently entertaining fans at local sporting events and preparing for an upcoming winter concert. Yolo Community Band numbers 60-70 musicians ranging in age from high school through retirement, drawn from communities across Yolo County and beyond. Director Bobby Rogers is the chair of the Music Department at Pioneer High School in Woodland, where the band rehearses. The community band will also be performing on Monday, Nov. 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the Veteran’s Day Ceremony hosted by Post 77 at the historic Yolo County Courthouse in Woodland. Other upcoming events include a holiday concert at the Pioneer High School Theater on Tuesday, Dec. 10, and a performance tour in Italy in June 2020. For more information contact .]]>
