The Winters Joint Unified School District and school staff members have been hard at work ensuring the effective implementation of their COVID safety protocols.

Winters JUSD staff has continued to prioritize in-person learning for scholars by “keeping safety at the center.” They know that the return to school has been extremely difficult for many school communities, and they will continue to do everything in their power to ensure that scholars have safe, healthy places to learn. Winters JUSD recognizes that things are shifting quickly, but as a team, they are working very hard to ensure that their classroom doors remain open and that amazing learning continues.

Winters JUSD thanks all of the employees for taking on these additional roles with such commitment and grace. Here are a few of the things Winters JUSD is doing to “keep safety at the center.”

Safety Protocols
This includes daily cleaning and disinfecting of classrooms and school facilities, distributing appropriate PPE for scholars and staff, and closely monitoring and following our local California Department of Public Health and Yolo County Department of Public Health guidelines. In addition, the front office and health staff have the extra responsibility of contact tracing.

Home test kits
As of Jan. 31, Winters JUSD conducted four days of antigen test distribution, providing 1,937 free testing kits to families and staff members.

Free COVID testing
Free daily testing is available for staff, scholars, families and community members. Winters JUSD is pleased about their partnership with COVID Clinic, a nonprofit testing provider. Their testing model offers frequent, accessible and no-cost testing opportunities for staff, scholars, and community members. Since
Jan. 5, more than 1,600 tests have been administered at the school district office and school sites.

Pre-registration is needed to schedule for a test. For testing information for scholars, families and community members, visit the Winters JUSD website at
