This October there are free gardening educational opportunities for the public hosted by the UCCE Yolo County Master Gardeners. Due to COVID guidelines, some of the events are being hosted via the Zoom platform.
Fall Plant Sale
The Master Gardeners of Yolo County’s annual Fall Plant Sale will be held on two Saturdays, Oct. 2 and Oct. 9, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the greenhouse at Woodland Community College, 2300 E. Gibson Road in Woodland. The public in-person sale will offer perennial drought tolerant landscape plants, winter vegetables and herbs. Only cash or check will be accepted as payment. Masks are required at the college.
Kitchen Garden Chat
The Kitchen Garden Chat continues in person and on Zoom. On Saturday, Oct. 2 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. the Master Gardeners of Yolo County will offer a free gardening class designed to teach home gardeners how to have something in the garden to harvest and eat each month of the year. The in-person class will take place in the Leake Room at the Woodland Library. It may also be watched remotely via Zoom at https://ucanr.zoom.us/j/95676702285.
Thursday Zoom Workshops
The Master Gardeners of Yolo County will continue to offer their regular Thursday workshop series in October, between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. on the first and third Thursdays of the month. On Oct. 7 the topic is, “Sustainable Gardening During a Drought.” On Oct. 21, the topic is, “Caring for Grapes.”
