Join Friends of Meals on Wheels for the return of its annual event, the Epicurean Esprit, as it marks its 31st year to benefit Meals on Wheels Yolo County.

This popular charity evening will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at Windmill Vineyards, a beautiful classic country venue in Woodland. The “Esprit” is a special gathering of the local community as they mingle and sample some of Yolo County’s finest cuisine, wine and beverages donated by over 50 local restaurants, wineries and breweries.

According to Friends of Meals on Wheels president Julie Mast, this year’s Epicurean Esprit will be a celebration of the return of this record-breaking event, which was the first of its kind in Yolo County and has been a tradition for more than 30 years. “We are so excited to have the Esprit at Windmill Vineyards and bring this event back after cancelling for two years because of the pandemic,” Mast said. “We look forward to celebrating this year by seeing old friends but hope to see many new faces this year as we welcome the next generation to support this worthy cause.”

Supporting Meals on Wheels Yolo County, in 2019 the Epicurean Esprit attracted more than 400 guests and raised nearly $28,000 which helped fund over 86,000 nutritious meals to seniors in Yolo County. The Friends hope to bring this event back even stronger in 2022 since food insecurity of seniors has increased during the pandemic and help is needed more than ever.

Tickets for the event are $50 per person and available online only at fomow2022esprit.eventbrite.com or at friendsofmowyolo.org. Call Kathy Aukes at 530-304-4682 for more information. This event is for adults over 21 only.
