The B-Stars have been a fixture in the San Francisco traditional roots music scene since forming in 2006. Inspired by the western swing and early country boppers of the late 1940s and early 1950s, The B-Stars bring the golden age of country & western swing back to the dancehalls, barrooms and venues of today. The B-Stars will bring their danceable hillbilly bop, rockabilly boogie and western swing to The Palms Playhouse on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $18 general/$12 students.  With two full-length albums and a six-song EP under their jewel-studded belts, the sharp-dressed band continues to please new fans with original music steeped in the traditional American country & western swing that was pioneered at a time when Saturday nights were meant for hanging out at the ol’ dancehall. Saying that “These guys write solid original songs that seem like classics,” Irish tastemaker site Lonesome Highway opined, “Add the B-Stars to that list of bands who make music for the very best reasons and who are so obviously in love with what they do that the infectiousness is catching.” The band has performed up and down the West Coast from Seattle to San Diego, has toured the Great Lakes and East Coast regions, and played to crowds from Chicago to Nashville to Austin, Tex.  Festival appearances include Red Hot & Blue in Montreal, Screamin’ Festival in Spain, Tiki Oasis in Southern California, The New England Shake Up near Boston, The Nashville Boogie in Tennessee, Vintage Torque Fest in Dubuque, Iowa, The Western Swing Out in Tehachapi, Calif., Outside Lands in San Francisco, and multiple consecutive appearances at the Viva Las Vegas festival in Nevada.   In 2016 the band was nominated for an Ameripolitan Award in the “rockabilly” category.  The B-Stars are Greg Yanito (vocals, guitar), Eric Reedy (vocals, upright bass), Larry Chung (steel guitar, fiddle) and Billy Ze (drums). Tickets are available online via The Palms’ website and through Eventbrite, as well as at Pacific Ace Hardware in Winters, Armadillo Music in Davis, Davids’ Broken Note in Woodland and at the door if the show is not sold out.  For more information, visit palmsplayhouse.com and thebstars.com.
